His three store here are closed, and have been draped in mourning all day. Col. WOOD has for nearly two years been a leading merchant here, both wholesale and retail. He formerly conducted a large mercantile house in Gainesville, and located in Whichita Falls, when the Fort Worth and Denver first reached there, and has had a mercantile and banking business at Harrold, Vernon and Quanah, while they were the terminus of the road, making this his headquarters. he has had branch stores at Childress, Washburn and Amarillo. He is to be buried in Illinois, March 9. A business man's meeting was held to-day, at which every house in Clarendon was represented, and passed resolutions of respect and condolence.
