John F. Brown, of Clinton, former watchman of Magnet Knitting Mills for 16 years, died at 9:20 p.m. Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James Brown, of Clinton, after a long illness. He was 83.Mr. Brown retired three years ago from his job as night watchman. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church of Clinton and Odd Fellows Lodge No. 18.
Surviving: two daughters, Mrs. James Brown, and Mrs. James Overton, of Clinton; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. John White, of Briceville.
Funeral services at 3 p.m. Monday at Zion Baptist Church the Rev. Luther Wilson and the Rev. Mr. Cox officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were to be members of the Odd Fellows Lodge and this order was to be in charge of services at the grave.
