On board the frigate President on Wednesday, 3d inst., Godfrey DYER, seaman, aged 47. The deceased was a native of Rhode Island, and was one of the numerous instances of impressment which have been the cause of complaint against England. He was impressed from an American merchant ship and detained 14 years. He at length found means to escape and on his return to the U.S. immediately shipped on board the President. He was esteemed as a good seaman and a brave man. His funeral was attended by a lt. 8 midshipmen, all the petty officers, and 50 seamen of the ship.
