Jim Smith is Acquitted by JuryThe only case tried in the district court this week as we go to press was the Jim Smith case, in which he was charged with the killing of Oliver Jacks, a service car driver, about the first of July, 1922. The killing occurred in front of Mr. Smith’s house on Oak Street. According to testimony Smith and Oliver had a difficulty over alleged relations between Smith’s brother-in-law and Mrs. Jacks. Jacks had phoned Smith to come to town, and refusing to come, Jacks told him he was coming down after him.
