Montgomery, Ala., Aug. 31.--John GAFFORD, who shot F. B. LLOYD (Rufus Sanders) near Greenville, Ala., last week, has been in jail in that place since Friday night. Sunday the sheriff had an intimation that GAFFORD would be taken from the jail and hanged. The officer called on the local militia company and they were stationed around the jail all that night. Time passed without incident and the sheriff received a note that a mob had not given up the intention to lynch GAFFORD. The prisoner was removed here.
