A Sad Affair - We learn that on Saturday last, Mr. John F. RIVERS, a
highly respectable citizen of this county, living near Spring Hill, had
a difficulty with his brother-in-law, Mr. Leroy UPSHAW, whom he shot
with a double-barrel gun, the entire load lodging in the lower part of
the face and jaw. Of the particulars of this painful tragedy we have
not been informed. Mr. UPSHAW has since died of the wounds he received,
and a preliminary examination has been had before a committing
Magistrate. Whether RIVERS has been held to bail or not we have not
learned - Clayton (ala.) Banner.
