Ellen Goodin Barnes, 81, of Pittsfield, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at the Pittsfield Manor in Pittsfield.
She was born March 11, 1927 in rural Pittsfieldto the late Homer and Nellye Atwood Goodin.
She married Sammy Barnes Sept. 15, 1963 in Pittsfield and he preceded her in death July 11, 2008.
Surviving are several cousins including, Rosemary Clark and husband Bob of Pittsfield, Bob Schalller and wife Fran of Griggsville, Eldon Atwood and wife Bertie of Pittsfield, Wilma Crossman of Iowa and Martha Thomas of Louisiana, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband.
Mrs. Barnes was a 1945 graduate of Pittsfield High School and was employed as a secretary for Pike County Farm Services for many years. She was a member of Detroit Christian Church. Ellen loved music and played the organ at the New Hartford Christian Church where she was a member before moving her membership to the Detroit Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 3 at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Burial will be in Goodin Cemetery near Pittsfield. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Goodin Cemetery c/o Airsman-Hires Funeral Home, Box 513, Pittsfield, Il. 62363.
