George D. Borrowman, 80, of 1626 Springmeir, formerly of Pleasant Hill, died Saturday (March 14, 2009) in St. Mary's Hospital, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. He was born Feb. 3, 1929, in Pleasant Hill, a son of Dewey and Vera Moyers Borrowman. He married Sharen Sue Scoville on July 31, 1982, in Belleville. She survives. George was a 1946 graduate of Pittsfield High School, where he enjoyed playing football and track and field. George was a lifelong farmer in Pike County. His biggest enjoyment in life was farming and spending time with family and friends. He was a vast book of knowledge. His favorite pastime was to tell stories about his life experiences. George was a member of Melrose United Methodist Church, Elks Lodge 100, Masonic Lodge No. 790 of Pittsfield and was a commissioner for the Sny Island Levee Drainage District for 42 years. In addition to his wife, Sharen, survivors include one sister, Annalee Browning of Oklahoma; five sons and one daughter with Mary Dell Borrowman which include Dale (wife Linda) Borrowman, Gary Borrowman, Brady (wife Wanda) Borrowman, Kevin (wife Shari) Borrowman, all of Rockport, Randy Borrowman of Louisiana, Mo., and Mary Lisa (husband Joel) Bugner of Carbondale, Colo.; one stepson, Scott Scoville Garner of Quincy; one stepdaughter-in-law, Lisa Garner of Quincy; 15 grandchildren, Garett, Laura, Stacey, Leah, Megan, Tracy, Malisha, Adam, Jacob, Eric, David, Brian, Aaron, Grant and Evan; and five great grandchildren, Delaney, Whitney, Chandler, Calista and Gavin; cousins, including Jack, Jim and Ervin Borrowman, Carroll Borrowman and Charlie Bill Borrowman; and numerous nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews. George was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bona Rae Browning. SERVICES: 10 a.m. Thursday in Pleasant Hill Christian Church, conducted by the Rev. Judith Taylor. Cremation rites will be accorded. VISITATION: 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Lummis Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill, with a Masonic service at 8 p.m. by Pittsfield Lodge 790. MEMORIALS: George D. Borrowman Agriculture Educational Fund. ARRANGEMENTS: Lummis Funeral Home, Pleasant Hill.
