Description: Obituary of Frances Wilson-Curts

Date: March 5 1945

Newspaper published in: Ukiah

Fire Victim Was Esteemed By Many

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Frances Ann Curts, who lost her life in the fire which destroyed her ranch home on the morning of February 25, were held at the Laytonville cemetery with Rev. J. H. Howe of Willits officiating and the Anker Funeral Parlors of Willits in charge.

Mrs. Curts was a native of the State of Kentucky, born August 3, 1854, the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan G. Wilson, who came to Long valley from Sutter county in 1858. She was the oldest resident of the Laytonville section and a woman of such excellent characteristics that she was beloved and greatly respected by all who had the privilege of her acquaintance. In her younger years much of her time was devoted to acts of charity and kindness and she was constantly on errands of mercy.

As practically all her life had been spent in Long valley her acquaintance among the people of that section was complete and extended to the far corners of the county, into the circle of folks in all walks of life where her friendship was highly esteemed.

Her remains were committed to the soil of her own community, in the cemetery where she had cared for the graves of her deceased friends.
