Severe burns were suffered by Beverly Emholtz age three, when she jumped into a wire frame containing smouldering papers. Playing with several other children near the courthouse, the girl jumped into the wire frame where papers and books had been burned and were still smouldering. Beverly succeeded in climbing from the ashes onto the wall, pieces of burned flesh from hands and feet clinging to the wall stones. The girl was given emergency treatment and then rushed to the hospital at Owatonna.
