Mildred A. Becktell, 96, of the Pittsfield Eastside Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center and formerly of New Salem, IL, passed away Friday, November 6, 2009 at the Center. She was born June 12, 1913 in Naples, IL, a daughter to Albert T. and Julia F. Nunn Mayes. She was married to James E. Rodgers and Guy E. Test. On November 12, 1955, she married Kermit Becktell and he preceded her in death February 28, 1976.
Mildred was of the Methodist faith and in her earlier years worked at the grocery store in New Salem, the Brown Shoe Factory and Spurgeon Clothing Store in Pittsfield. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Surviving are one daughter, Linda Test of Pittsfield and one son, Jim Rodgers of New Salem, IL., two grandchildren, six great grandsons and one great granddaughter. Two brothers, Virgil and Lee Mays, preceded her in death.
Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded with private services being held at a later date.
