At a quarter to one o'clock today, Mrs. C. E. Gates, mother of Mrs. R. M. Clarke, Mrs. George G. Lyon, Mrs. Stella Webster and Mr. James H. Kinkead, dropped dead at the residence of her son-in-law, Gen. R. M. Clarke, of a second stroke of paralysis.
Four years ago the lady was stricken with the disease, since which time she has been an almost confirmed invalid, being confined to her bed a greater part of the time. To-day she was up and around when the second stroke shut out the spark of life. The deceased lady has been a resident of Carson [City] for over twenty-five years and was greatly esteemed in the community. She was a native of Lancaster, Ohio, and aged 70 years. The announcement of the funeral will appear in our next issue.
