POLICE TRIAL BOARD REOPENS TWO CASES
Two cases previously disposed of by the Police Trial Board were reopened yesterday afternoon. The defendants were Privates Richard HILE, of the Eighth precinct station, charged with gross neglect of duty in letting a prisoner charged with murder escape from the Casualty Hospital early in February, and Spencer ROBERTS, of the Ninth district, accused of conduct unbecoming an officer, it being alleged that he sent a young man to a saloon to procure whisky and beer for him, which is a violation of the police manual.
No decision was reached in either case.
It is believed that HILE will be found guilty, and the original sentence of $25 fine will be allowed to stand.
