SEVEN PERSONS SAVED BY DOG, PRAY FOR HIM
BRISTOL, R. I., March 6 (AP) Seven persons, in the light of their burning home, gathered about the almost lifeless form of a dog on the lawn at 835 Hope street early this morning and prayed for the little creature whose barking had sent them fleeing to safety.
Richard J. Simmons, roused by the barking of his pet Skippy, went to the kitchen to investigate. As he opened the door, thick smoke poured out upon him and Skippy, with a last terrible bark, fell at his feet.
Simmons awakened his wife and five other occupants of the house and carried Skippy out of doors. Four fire companies extinguished the blaze.
