Dr. Alex JONES, Richard HARRIS, Susannah HARRIS, Lamer BALL and Phoebe BICKNALL were placed on trial last evening on the charge of abortion, the victim being Lillie May HARRIS, a girl of 14, who died last August. The case attracts a great deal of attention.
The jury convicted Samuel MCEWEN for the murder of Hiram STEVENS bringing in a verdict of manslaughter and fixing the punishment at five years in the Penitentiary.
