FORMER PRESIDENT WAS DETERMINED TO ENTER
EUFAULA, March 13 (AP) – L. H. Boykin, former president of the Eufaula Bank and Trust Company, was under $5,000 bond today on a charge of assault with intent to murder in connection with an alleged attempt to force his way into the bank’s vault yesterday at the point of a sawed off shot gun.
Boykin, who resigned his connection with the bank last summer was reported to have appeared yesterday and entered the vault over the protest of the cashier and removed some personal papers. L. Y. Dean, Jr., member of the board of the bank, remonstrated with Boykin who was then reported to have procured the gun from his automobile and attempted to enter the vault a second time.
The former bank president was disarmed and arrested. He later furnished bond and was released. Boykin was said to have been treated at a hospital here early this year for nervous disorder.
