Mr. John BARRETT, director of Bureau of American Republics, has gone on a lecture tour in the West.
Several hundred destitute families will be provided for on Thanksgiving Day by the Central Union Mission, following the custom in this city for many years.
John COWHILL, of 1013 I street northeast, was burned about the face and hands last evening in a fire at his residence as the result of the overturning of a pan of grease on a stove.
James COLLINS, thirteen years of age, of 1511 Thirty-fourth street northwest, was severely injured yesterday afternoon by a fall of thirty-five feet from the old ice storage house in K street.
John ROBINSON, colored, who was taken before the Police Court yesterday on six charges of false pretenses, was sentenced to one year in jail and $400 fine or confinement for six months more.
Miss Alice LONG, of 2410 Eighteenth street northwest, was knocked down and slightly injured yesterday afternoon by an automobile owned and operated by M. A. WINTER, of 1517 R street northwest.
An address by Mr. P. J. HALTIGAN will be made to-night at the fair in Masonic Temple, Ninth and F streets northwest, under the auspices of the Church of the Holy Comforter, when the Knights of Columbus will be entertained.
At the request of the Metropolitan Club, Seventeenth and Eighteenth streets northwest, four Norway maple trees will replace the five silver maples and the Norway maple on the Seventeenth street side of the club building. The decision was reached and the request granted following a board session of the Commissioners.
