President Taft Commends Ballinger
---------------------
By Associated Press
Washington, March 8 – In a letter accepting Ballinger’s resignation the president comes out strong in endorsement of the Secretary’s acts and declared Ballinger was always alive to the best interests, and that he considered him one of the best aids. Mr. Taft thanks him for what he calls sacrifice for best interests of the government. The president also scored those making accusations against the Secretary, declaring their attack was really at Mr. Taft himself. He says Ballinger’s accusers used unfair means and attempted to show him in the wrong light through the improper use of newspapers and magazines. Ballinger attended the last cabinet session yesterday and says he will return to Seattle immediately.
