Marriage Was Unknown To Washington Friends
Until the receipt of the above dispatches from San Francisco last night, nothing had been known in Washington of the marriage of Mrs. Louise SCOTT and Alejandro GARLAND.
The couple last figured publicly in May of this year, when Mrs. GARLAND - then SCOTT - was haled into Police Court because of a dispute she had with her milliner. The outcome, despite the chivalrous efforts of Senor GARLAND, who appeared as a witness in her behalf, was a fine of $24 imposed on the defendant.
Just a year previous, attention had been centered on the pair, when Col. Charles EDWARDS, former secretary of the Democratic Congressional campaign committee, was said to have stabbed Senor GARLAND in a midnight dispute. There was no prosecution in that case, as GARLAND declined to make formal charges against his alleged assailant.
