A Double Funeral
Probably one of the saddest scenes ever witnessed in Minonk was the double funeral Wednesday of the Saathoff children. A short time since, the two children were taken ill with summer complaint, which soon developed into a severe case of flux. Death relieved the little ones from their sufferings Monday, Oct. 1st.
Frederick Janssen Saathoff, aged 7 ½ months, passed away at 9 o'clock a.m. and an hour and a half later, or 10:30 a.m., William Janssen Saathoff, aged 1 year, 10 ½ months, breathed his last. The funeral service was held from the German Evangelical church Wednesday afternoon at 5 o'clock; Rev Nanerth delivering a touching tribute to the two young lives so suddenly taken away.
The parents, Mr and Mrs John Saathoff, who live on the Davison farm six miles southwest of town, have the sympathy of the entire community in their terrible bereavement.
