ANENT PEACE NEGOTIATIONS
---------------------
By the Associated Press
Washington, D. C., September 6 – While private negotiations proceeded today between the senators anent the treaty ratifications the foreign relations committee received a report that in Paris last June President Wilson and Frank C. Walsh had sought a hearing before the peace conference.
The President was reported as declining to use his influence to get a hearing for the nationalists because of intemperate speeches. The memorandum said that the President declared that he and Col. House were on the way to getting hearing but it was you gentlemen who kicked over the apple cart. The president was also quoted as saying that he had the deepest sympathy for the Irish cause but it was impossible for him to act officially.
