Special Deputy Jefferson HOSTE__, arrested Mr. William SETTLES at New Berlin, Ill., charged with abducting and living in open adultery with Miss Delia COONROD of Monticello. He took her from her home last March, going to Springfield, where he lived with her, refusing to marry her, although she repeatedly asked him to do as he had promised when he induced her to leave home with him. He left Springfield and went into the smaller towns to keep from being detected, threatening to kill the girl if she wrote the facts home to her friends. He was taken before 'Squire A. P. PIPHER and bound over in a $500 bond, in default of which he was sent to the Piatt County Jail to await the action of the Grand Jury.
