Word was received in Phoenix of the death in Oklahoma territory of Colonel Benjamin S. Jones, a former resident of Phoenix and who was well and favorably known as a most respected citizen. About a year ago he went to Oklahoma, leaving his wife and daughter in Phoenix. His wife will leave for Oklahoma. During his residence in Phoenix Colonel Jones took an active interest in politics and was a strong factor in the republican organization of this county. In the civil war Colonel Jones was a Lieutenant-Colonel in the third Iowa cavalry of the federal army.
