NEGRO DRAGGED 2 MILES THEN LYNCHED

Franklinton, N. C., Dec. 27 – A negro named Green charged with the murder here today of R. N. Brown was lynched near here tonight by a mob which took him from officers enroute to Raleigh in an automobile where it was intended to hold him for safe keeping. The negro was taken only after a fight between deputies and members of the mob. During the struggle Green broke away but was recaptured. A rope was tied around the negro’s neck and he was dragged about two miles behind and automobile and then was hanged to a tree.
