Nashville, Ill., September 7.

Dr. James PHILLIPS, an old war surgeon and one of the pioneer settlers of this county, was buried here today in the Masonic Cemetery, having died yesterday morning at Springfield, Ill., his late home. He was a popular and wealthy man and well known all over Southern Illinois. He was at his death 65 years of age and leaves numerous relatives here.
