Jean Baptiste FARIBAULT, one of the earliest pioneers of the western country, died at Faribault, Minn., Monday, aged 87 years.
The City Hotel, Galena, was destroyed by fire Monday afternoon. Loss $14,000. No insurance.
A man named AUGELBERGER and two children, were drowned in Fox River near Butte-Des-Moines, Wisconsin, last Saturday. The bodies were recovered Monday.
The telegraph line to St. Paul, Minn., was opened today.
