Description: Accident takes the life of Mrs. John Sobkoviack
Date: October 15 1890
Newspaper published in: Watseka
A very sad and fatal accident occurred in Woodland on Saturday last. Mr. and Mrs. John Sobkoviack [sic], living on one of Judge Williams' farms, came to town to do some trading and while Mr. S. was out of the buggy the horse started and before anyone could stop him he had upset the buggy and thrown Mrs. Sobkoviack [sic] out on the ground, cutting a gash in the back of her head producing concussion of the brain. She was carried at once by kind hands into the drug store of Dr. Mollyneaux, who did all for the unfortunate lady that could be done, but it was found impossible to restore her to consciousness. At the earnest request of her husband she was taken to her home about a mile from town, where she was tenderly cared for by sympathising [sic] friends and neighbors, but all was in vain and at 10 p.m. she quietly passed away to try the realities of the other world. Rev. Tuggle conducted the funeral services at the residence at 3 p.m. Sunday and the remains were laid to rest in the Body cemetery.Submitted: 05/13/05
