Newspaper published in: Houston, MO

Tuesday morning James KIRKMAN, aged 16, accidentally killed his sister, Minnie KIRKMAN, aged 12, at their home four miles west of Summerville.

KIRKMAN was starting to go hunting, and just before leaving he pointed the gun (a 38-calibre Winchester) at his sister in a playful manner, sayng that he was going to shoot her. The gun was cocked at the time but he did not know it, and when he pointed the gun at her, he pulled the trigger, shooting her in the side, the ball passing through both lungs. She lived only a short time.

They are the son and daughter of Cass KIRKMAN.
