Rehoboth Beach, February 28 1967 :
Perhaps the nicest thing about Rehoboth Beach in the dead of winter is the clean beach and the utterly naked boardwalk. The morning after I arrived last evening, it snowed. I opened the window to the third story balcony, at the Atlantic Sands, stepped outside and overlooked the ocean see the grandest sight of all, the expanse of deserted beach, except for a few hardy sea gulls, and not a footprint on the boardwalk in the new blanket of snow.
Generally, most of the shops in Rehoboth Beach shut down for the winter but there are a few, enough to meet a shoppers appetite, and restaurants with broad enough variety for good dinning.
It's lots of fun to sit on the balcony and just watch the ocean wash up on the empty beach.
Another delightful experience was my visit with the new mayor, Lester Johnson.
