Elmyra Hanes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hanes, was born July 8, 1857, in Indiana, moved from there with her father when small to Franklin county, Ill. She was converted about the age of 14 years and united with the Christian church at that place and lived a faithful Christian until death.
About the year 1875 she was united in marriage to Wm. Clark. Two years later they moved from there to Missouri, where she has resided to the present time. There were five children born to this union, two sons and three daughters, all of whom survive her. Her husband, Wm. Clark, died about two years ago, and she fell asleep in Jesus Sept. 18, 1915, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Albert Coats. Funeral services were conducted by Bro. Carty at Dykes Sept. 19th, from the text, Psalms 116:15, "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints," and in the presence of a host of weeping friends the body was laid to rest by the side of her husband to await the resurrection morn.
