The Democratic State Executive Committee held a meeting in Jackson, on Monday. Capt. J. S. McNeilly, editor of the Greenville Times, was elected chairman, to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Hon. R. C. Patty. No better selection could have been made, and the action of the committee will be heartily endorsed by the party. The committee called a State convention to meet in Jackson, on Wednesday, July 15th to nominate three candidates for Railroad Commissioner. The representation of the various counties will be the same as heretofore—double that which they have in the lower house of the Legislature.
