Hon. John N. Malone, incumbent, announces himself a candidate for Probate Judge of Limestone County.

Dr. Westmoreland and Hector Lane arrived here from Texas last week, bringing with them seventy Texas mares. The best Texas stock ever brought to this market.—Athens Courier.

Dr. J. R. Hoffman has bought out Harrison & Vassor and will continue the book business in the same stand, with the handsome and accommodating Ben to manage affairs. Success to him.—Athens Courier.

There is a beautiful heart-felt tribute in the Athens Courier of January 21, to Mrs. Rachel Sloss Mason, late wife of George Mason, who was a most lovely character. The tribute is in exquisite taste and, as is rarely enough the case, it is true.

Stevenson correspondence of the Scottsboro Herald: Our new presiding elder, Rev. Mr. Gregory, of Athens, held quarterly meeting here on the 9th and 10th inst. People who had the pleasure of listening to his sermon on Sunday were charmed with him.
