The District Court of East Baton Rouge Parish tried on Thursday the case of W. E. Edwards and Dave Young, white men, and Priest Crockett, a negro, charging them with stealing seventy one cypress logs from the Bayou Sara Lumber Company. Edwards claims that he got the logs in Concordia Parish, and was bringing them to Baton Rouge to dispose of them for parties, but he is charged by the indictment with stealing them from the Bayou Sara Lumber Company. A number of witnesses from Concordia Parish and West Felicians attended the trial. The men were found not guilty, but were re-arrested upon an affidavit from Concordia parish charging them with theft of the lumber.
