Died:

Hadfield - Entered into rest, on the 14th inst., Eliza A., wife of Robert Hadfield, and mother of Mrs. S. Douglas Cornell. Notice of funeral hereafter.

Nauland - In this city, on the 14th inst., of consumption, Frederick J. Nauland, 42 years, 2 months, and 19 days. Funeral from his late residence, No. 746 Seneca Street, on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend.

Riley - In this city, on the 13th inst., Mrs. Christina Riley,nee Carroll, mother of Detective John Riley, aged 72 years. Funeral from the residence of her son, cor. Seventh and Massachusetts Streets, tomorrow at 8:30, and from Holy Angels Church at 9 a.m. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend.

Robinson - In this city on the 14th inst., Jos. Robinson, aged 5_ years.
Funeral from his late residence, No. 16 Morgan Street, on Monday, 17th inst., at 9 a.m.

Cowles - At Farmington, Conn., on the 13th inst., Chauncey D. Cowles, aged 69 years, father of S. H. Cowles of this city.

Shearer - In Dennison, O., on the 11th inst., Susan Coville, wife of Charles R. Shearer, formerly of this city.

Marvin - At Jamestown, N. Y., on the 13th inst., Isabelle, youngest daughter of Hon. Richard P. Marvin. Funeral tomorrow at Jamestown at 3 p.m.

Sawtell - At Williamstown, on the 14th inst., David Sawtell. Funeral from the family residence on Monday, the 17th inst., at 2 p.m. Friends and acquaintances are respectfully invited to attend.


Obituary:

We regret exceedingly to learn of the death of Mrs. Eliza A. Hadfield, wife of our esteemed friend, Robert Hadfield. The sad event occurred today, and the sympathies of many friends will go out to Mr. Hadfield in his great affliction. The deceased was a most estimable lady of thoroughly lovable character, kind and benevolent. Her loss will be deeply felt by all who knew her. She was the mother of Mrs. S. Douglas Cornlell, of this city. Notice of the funeral will be given hereafter.


Brevities:

Mr. John Ryan, of East Market Street, this city, left for Florida yesterday, to be gone three months.

Benjamin G. Pfeiffer was this morning appointed a Patrolman, and assigned to duty in the First Precinct.

At a meeting of the Water Commissioners yesterday afternoon, the resignation of A. R. Fox, engineer of the lower pumping house, was received and accepted.

The Buffalo Dental Association have bought the building, corner of Court and Pearl Streets, and are preparing for occupancy. Their new quarters will be very elegant.

Mr. George W. Hibsch will serve a rabbit lunch at his place, corner of William and Spring Streets, tomorrow evening at eight o'clock. A special invitation is extended to all his friends.

The Frank Frayne Combination will appear at St. James Hall tomorrow evening in "St. Slocum". The house will doubtless be crowded. Mr. Frayne will introduce his performing bear, "Bruno".

We regret to learn that Mr. Henry L. Meech, of the Academy of Music, is confined to his residence by illness. It is believed, however, that he will be able to attend to busines again in a few days.

The regular meeting of the Society of Natural Sciences will be held this evening at 8 o'clock. A paper will be read by Prof. Chas. Linden, on "The Birds of Buffalo". Ladies and gentlemen interested are invited to attend.

This morning Judge Haight, in the absence from this city of Judge Daniels, convened an adjourned Special Term of the Supreme Court, and after transacting some ordinary business, ordered an adjournment until Monday next.

The Board of Officers of the 74th Regiment have appointed Col. L. P. Reichert, Lt. Col. C. D. Zacher, and Major U. S. Johnson, the representatives of the regiment to the annual meeting of the State Military Association at Albany on the 24th inst.


Police Appointment:

This afternoon John Brandt was appointed a Patrolman, and assigned to duty in the Eighth Precinct.
