A Bigamist Sentenced
In the Superior Court, Criminal Term, this morning, ALBERT PORTER, the bigamist, pleaded guilty, and JUDGE SHELDON gave him the full extent of the law - five years in the State Prison. In passing sentence His Honor gave the prisoner a severe lecture and characterized his crime as one of the meanest and most contemptible known to the law. The indictment against PORTER shows that he was lawfully married to ANGELINE HANSON in Buffalo, and thereafter, while his lawful wife was living, he married on the 17th of June last, MARY DALY, in Brooklyn. PORTER is 29 years old, was born in Seneca County, and is a barber by occupation. It is said that he also married a woman at Akron, this county. He was arrested some time ago, by SPECIALS WILEY and KIEF of the First Precinct.
Police Court
This morning, JOHN MILLER, charged with stealing an overscoat belonging to PATRICK NOONAN, pleaded guilty, and was fined $5.
