Alto Pass, Ill., May 21–Emma FROGGEE LASH, of Alto Pass, for many years proprietress of the hotel near the Alto Pass Cliffs, well known as the Old Alto House, died at St. Andrew’s Hospital, Murphysboro. She had been ill for several weeks. She was the wife of O. T. LASH, retired locomotive engineer.
Mrs. LASH was born near Alto Pass, April 17th, 1869, and married Mr. LASH at Murphysboro in 1889. The family had lived here and in St. Louis at alternate periods.
Deceased leaves to mourn her, her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Ethel NEWBURY, at home, and Mrs. Mark BUCKINGHAM of Dublini, Texas; also two grandchildren. She was a member of the Alto Pass Camp of Royal Neighbors of America.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Monday afternoon by the Rev. BROWN, pastor of the First Congregational Church of which she was a member. Interment was made in the Alto Pass cemetery. The Rev. BROWN paid a high tribute to this lovable woman whose passing is felt as a distinctive loss to the community. The large crowd that attended and the many beautiful floral offerings attested the high esteem in which she was held.
