Spokane--Mrs. Helen Martin, age 28, wife of the Rev. William Martin of Endicott, and daughter of the Rev. B.E. Koontz of this city died yesterday at the Deaconess hospital, following an operation. She was brought here last week. The Rev. Mr. Martin is pastor of the Methodist church at Endicott, while the Rev. Mr. Koontz is pastor of the Metzger Memorial church here. Besides her husband Mrs. Martin is survived by two children. The body is at the Hazen-Jaeger rooms.

Mrs. Martin was well known here, her father having been pastor of the Moscow Methodist church for several years. Her husband's mother lives in Moscow and both she and Mr. Martin had many friends here, to whom the news of her death will be a severe shock. [See below.]

Word comes from Seattle that Mrs. Pearl Rist, wife of Frank A. Rist, of Latah county, had died suddenly at Lake Side Hospital, Seattle, on April 18. Mrs. Rist had gone to Seattle to visit her sister, Mrs. G.C. Adams when she was taken ill and rushed to the hospital. She leaves, besides her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Ross, and a brother, David Ross, of Helmer, a brother, Ronald Ross, of Moscow, and a sister, Mrs. Amos Carpenter, of Lewiston, and hosts of friends in Latah county. Mrs. Rist was 26 years old at the time of her death.

Rev. W.S. Snoddy pronounced the ceremony uniting in marriage today [April 16] at 2 o'clock Roy M. Squiers and Miss B. McGuire of Colfax. Mr. and Mrs. W.C. Moody of Colfax were in attendance. They left for a trip to Spokane and will make their home at Colfax.

E.W. Travis of Potlatch returned today [April 19] from Lewiston, where he was called by the death of his stepmother, Mrs. O.W. Travis, whose funeral occurred Sunday. She was born in Oregon and was 51 years of age at the time of her death, having lived 15 years in Lewiston. She leaves her husband and two sons, one at Portland and one at Rockford, Wash.

Word has been received of the death of Mrs. E.T. Lawrence at Chehalis, Wash., April 13, of influenza, after an illness of eight days. Mrs. Lawrence lived in Moscow about three years ago, her husband being druggist at Hodgins.

Mrs. A.W. Cooley of Spokane, whose husband died suddenly last week, is in Moscow at the home of her son, E.O. Styner. Mr. and Mrs. Styner, and son Percy, and Mr. and Mrs. M.M. Preston went to Spokane to attend the funeral, returning home Sunday by automobile, bringing Mrs. Cooley home with them.

Word has been received from California, announcing the marriage on April 12 of Miss Mae Swecker and Lawrence Phelps, Moscow young people.

Born, today [April 20], an eight pound girl to Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Lue at 314 east C. street.

Born, April 18, a 9 pound daughter, to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Brugeman of Thorn Creek. All are doing nicely.

Miss Jennie Green, teacher of the eighth grade in our city schools, went to Spokane to attend the funeral of her cousin, Mrs. Wm. Martin. Mrs. Mary Duggan substituted in the schools for Miss Green.

A daughter was born at midnight, Tuesday [April 20], to the wife of John Sweeker, living on north Washington street.
