Sacremento:Antoine Rochi of Chico who made two attempts to commit suicide through sorrow over the defeat of Jeffries by Johnson died this morning in the county hospital from a fracture of the spine caused by flinging himself from his bunk eight feet above the floor of his cell in the city jail to the cement floor. Rochi was saved from death by drowning when two policemen caught him as he tried to jump into the river.
"Life is not worth while now that Jefferies is beaten" said Rochi as they placed him in jail. An hour later he threw himself headlong to the floor.
