Washingtonian Is a Refugee.
The Brazilian Minister at Mexico City, representing the interests of the United States there, notified the State Department yesterday that 160 Americans have reached the Mexican capital from Guanajuato. He quoted refugees as expressing their grateful appreciation of kind treatment and protection afforded them by Gov. Cuellar.
The Minister reported that the Mexican government had promised as many trains as may be necessary to take out Americans. He added that there is no danger to Americans in Mexico City, and that a number feel so certain of their safety that they refuse to leave.
Consul General Canada, at Vera Cruz, reported that the following refugees arrived from Mexico City yesterday:
Dr. Sydney ULFELDER, of New York, with wife and two children; C. L. BAKER, of Wollasten, Mass.; Jack C. BRENNAN, of Washington, D. C.; James H. COLEMAN, of St. Louis, and Howard JONES, of Atlanta, Ga. All of these will soon leave for the United States on the steamers Moro Castle or Ypiranga.
Consul GARRETT reported from Laredo that he has located the body of Porfirio Laurel, and had permission from the authorities of Nuevo Laredo to bring it to Texas for burial.
