JUDGE WHO CONVICTED CAPONE IS PROMOTED--------------------------------------
WASHINGTON, Jan. 12 (AP) – Judge James H. Wilkerson, of Chicago who recently sentenced Al Capone, was advanced from the district to the circuit bench today by President Hoover, in recognition of his services in breaking up gangster activities in Chicago. In briefly announcing the advancement of Wilkerson, the president said it was part of the recognition due federal officials working in Chicago for breaking up the activities of the gangster.
