DEATH OF "HONEY BOY" EVANS
Famous Minstrel Succumbs to Stomach Trouble in Baltimore.
Baltimore, Md., March 5. - William George ("Honey Boy") EVANS, one of the best known blackface comedians on the stage, died this afternoon about 5 o'clock at the Union Protestant Infirmary. EVANS had been ill from stomach trouble for a long time. He spent last summer here, but at the beginning of the season joined his company. He played in Baltimore at Ford's Grand Opera House during the week of December 14, but his condition was such that he was unable to appear at the matinees.
Lately he had been touring the South with his company, and about three weeks ago was compelled to leave it in Birmingham, Ala. On Wednesday he arrived in Baltimore with his manager and went directly from the train to the infirmary.
