Description: Joe Kelly Buried At Rawhide Thursday
Date: June 12 1935Newspaper published in: Hawthorne
Funeral services were held at Rawhide Thursday (6 Jun 1935) for Joe KELLY who died at the county hospital here Wednesday. Friends from all parts of the county made the trip to the old mining camp to pay their last respects to a pioneer of that district.
KELLY was about 55 years of age and a native of New York. He came to this state about 30 years ago and during the rush to Rawhide was one of the first men in the district. For many years he was engaged in business there. With the decline of the camp he became interested in mining properties and continued to make his home in Rawhide until two years ago when he moved to Rand on the East shore of Walker Lake to succeed the late L. C. MERZ as postmaster.
