Mrs. Oscar STALLARD, who will be remembered as the former Ruth McCARTHY of Hawthorne, dies at a hospital in Yerington yesterday. She had been ill for a short time and recently underwent an appendicitis operation.
Mrs. Stallard who was the daughter of A. J. McCARTHY, former Hawthorne Justice of the Peace and publisher of the Walker Lake Bulletin, was raised in this community and was known through the county. About ten years ago she became the bride of Oscar STALLARD and shortly after their wedding the couple moved from Hawthorne to Yerington, where they had since resided.
The former Hawthorne woman maintained her membership in Queen of the Lake Rebekah lodge at Hawthorne and her untimely passing came as a severe blow to members of the lodge, as well as to many other residents who knew her intimately.
Besides her husband and one year old son, Gene, Mrs. STALLARD is survived by her father A. J. McCARTHY of Yerington, a sister, Mrs. Rita MILLAR, former Mineral county auditor and now a resident of Reno and brother Jack McCARTHY, also a former resident of this town and who is now living at Boulder City.
Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
