Pueblo, Feb. 9.--A man named Harley H. MORGAN of Chicago, Tex., was in Pueblo yesterday in search of the remains of a former sweetheart. He told a very singular story. Several years ago, while living in Cornith, Miss., he fell in love with Miss Harriet SPENCER, the daughter of an attorney. MORGAN came West to make a stake and located on a ranch between Chicago, Texas, and the Laguna Sabinas, and all the time he has been in the West he has corresponded with his sweetheart in Mississippi. The parents of the girl objected to their marriage. They favored another suitor, Herbert LEROUX, who formerly lived in Cornith, but who has been with one of the big circuses for the last three years.
MORGAN says his sweetheart ran away from home and died shortly after reaching his Texas ranch. He prepared the body to be sent back home, and while it was at the depot LEROUX arrived and took it away, unknown to anybody, on the next train.
MORGAN says he has chased LEROUX and a large trunk containing his sweetheart's body to the Pacific coast and back and now learns that his hated rival is in Kansas City, acording to a letter received from Chief HAYS.
