Springfield, Ill., September 4.--James PRICE, a boy about 20 years old, met his death last evening in a shocking manner. While riding on a wagon-load of wood belonging to a farmer named Stephen CHILDS, of Garner Township, this county, for whom he was working, he fell from the load, and his clothing caught on the whiffletree, allowing him to hand with his head dragging on the ground. He was dragged nearly a quarter of a mile, when the owner discovered the team and, stopping them, released the young man, who was still alive, but unconscious. He died in a few minutes afterwards.
