Cambridge, Md., May 6, 1885:
In the Circuit Court for Dorchester County today H. PAGE REA was convicted before the court of selling liquor in violation of the local option law and was fined $100 and cost. At the beginning of the court there were three indictment against Rea for similar offences. At the trial of the first case a week ago he was acquitted and the States Attorney ordered the remaining cases to be settled but Rey refused and demanded a trial in the cases taken up today. New and stronger evidence was added by the State, resulting in a conviction as stated above. The other case will be tried tomorrow. Rea has been indicted numerous cases of the kind but has always managed to escape conviction by carrying on the traffic through agents, several of whom have been convicted and served out terms in jail in default of fines and cost. The cases have caused much interest in Cambridge, especially on the part of local option advocates.
HARRY HUBBARD of James, an old and weakthy resident of the Neck District of Dorchester County was attacked with a bout of vertigo at CREIGHTONS HOTEL today, and fell upon his face on the floor, receiving a painful cut over the right eye. Mr HUBBARD is 83 years old, and owingto his advanced age it was feared that his condition was serious but he is reported much better tonight.
