CHICAGO, July 7, A United Press special from Cairo, Ill., says that Nelson Howard, colored, who shot dead John Kase, Wednesday at Mound City, was taken from jail at 2 o'clock yesterday and hanged.
CRUSHED TO DEATH.
Three Men Killed and Several Injured by the Falling of a Derrick.
LAMONT, Il., July 7. - Yesterday while a large number of men were engaged in hoisting stone on a 8-guy derrick in Walker's quarry three of the guys broke and the stone with the derrick fell with a terrible crash upon the workmen below. Thos. Rogers and John Bloomington were crushed to death. Dennis Rogers was fatally hurt and seven others seriously. Walker, the proprietor, was within one foot of the spot where the stone fell.
