DIED,
Near this place, on the evening of the 10th inst., after a protracted illness of five weeks, Mr. Pleasant A. WALKER, of Van Buren, Arkansas, in the 28th year of his age.
The deceased was a native of Saline county, Missouri, but emigrated to Arkansas a number of years ago, where the writer of this imperfect tribute became acquainted with him; and where by the display of the nobleness of his nature he won many and lasting friends. Mr. W. was a young man of uncommon activity, and fine business talents, and at the time of his untimely decease was just beginning to reap the fruits of a lucrative business and of his laborious habits. The deceased received, we are assured, during his illness every attention that medical skill could suggest of human agency devise. - "He has left many disconsolate relatives to mourn his loss." L.

We are under many obligations to Capt. HEALD, of the schooner St. Paul, for late New Orleans papers.
Capt. GILLESPIE, of the Texas Rangers, who died of is wound received before Monterey, and who distinguished himself by his effective services and gallant daring, was a native of Morgan county, Ala., from whence he emigrated to Texas, joined Hays' Rangers and was soon noted for his adventurous deeds. He has many relatives still living in Morgan, who will receive the news of the glorious end of his brilliant career with deep but unavailing regret.
[N. O. Delta.]
Mr. McLEAN, bearer of dispatches for Gen. TAYLOR, passed through New Orleans on the 28th Octo., on his way from Washington to Monterey.
Wm. C. JONES, Editor and proprietor of the N. O. Bulletin, and a writer of fine ability, has transferred that establishment to Wm. L. HODGE, who is highly spoken of as a political and commercial writer.
