A handsome wood cut of the splendid Railroad Car "Frederick" will be found in our advertising columns, from the graver of our ingenious townsman Francis S. MILLER. Mr. MILLER is a skilful artist, entirely self-taught, and deserves encouragement.

A Wapper: A Radish of uncommon size grew this fall on the farm of Mr. L. J. BRENGLE, near Frederick. The following were its dimensions: length - 23 inches; circumference - 18 inches; and weighing 9 pounds. We were just about to boast of this enormous of Frederick County, when The Steubenville (Ohio) Democrat came to hand, on opening which our eye fell on the following:
"A Radish has been sent to our office measuring 32 inches in circumference, and weighing 21 pounds. It was raised by Mr. J. ELLIOTT of Knox Township in this county."

On the 15th ult, Mr. George A. WAGAMEN, a Clayman, was elected a Senator of the United States, by the Legislature of (unreadable) by the resignation of Mr. LIVINGSTON. On the 3d ballot he received 32 votes, and Mr. Carleton, a Jacksonian, 30.

Fire: A fire broke out in the bakery of Mr. WHITE, in Georgetown, D. C., in the night of Tuesday last, which destroyed five houses with such rapidity that some of the inhabitants had to be taken out of the windows. Mr. WHITE's loss is estimated at $20,000, besides that of others.
