Justin David Walters, 19, of Griggsville, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at the scene of a house fire in rural Pike County.
He was born April 13, 1988 in Pittsfield to Jerry and Laurie Hobson Walters.
Surviving are his parents Jerry and Laurie Walters of Griggsville; two sisters, Jessica "Pete" Walters and Alyssa Walters, both of Griggsville; paternal grandmother, Janice Walters of Griggsville; maternal grandparents, Greg and Darla Hobson of Valley City and Paul and Diane Anthony of Griggsville; maternal great-grandmother, Wanda Hobson of Valley City; his girlfriend, Ali Baker of New Salem; three uncles, Jeff Walters and wife Renna of Tennessee, Brandon Hobson and companion Stephanie Kells of Valley City and Cody Hobson and wife Holly of Valley City; one aunt Julie Walters Hobson of Pittsfield; and special cousins, Abbey Walters of Tennessee, Logan Hobson of Valley City, Jerica Walters of Pittsfield, Levi Walters of Tennessee, Jacob Hobson of Valley City and Tray and Lakin Labby, both of Pittsfield.
He was preceded in death by a paternal grandfather, Joe Walters, who was very close to Justin; and a maternal great-grandfather, Lorraine Hobson.
Justin was always a person who loved to joke with family and friends and was very close and supportive of his sisters, Jessica and Alyssa. He loved kids, especially playing with his cousins and in his younger years, he loved riding lawnmowers with his grandpa Joe. Justin was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and driving his 4 wheel drive truck in the mud. Justin, who was always curious as a boy, loved taking things apart to see how they worked. He loved music and loved to hear his sister Alyssa sing and recently, was learning to play the guitar. Justin was employed by Walter Stolte Builders of Pittsfield, as a carpenter. He attended the Baylis Baptist Church in Baylis.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield. Burial was in Gray Cemetery near New Salem. Visitation was held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.airsman-hires.com.
